Liverpool Hope University has a prestigious academic reputation and also puts pastoral care and student support at the heart of its mission. With a history extending over 170 years, we are proud of our past, confident in our present and ambitious for our future.
Liverpool Hope is ranked as Gold Standard in the UK Government's Teaching Excellence Framework which measures excellence in teaching quality, learning environment, and student outcomes. Only one in five UK Higher Education providers achieved this. We are also ranked in the top 3 in the UK for Teaching Quality by the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.
Students studying with us have the advantage of living and learning on a campus that is safe, friendly and surrounded by beautiful buildings and award-winning gardens. The city of Liverpool is also a renowned place, made famous by its people, vibrancy and history. This combination makes our University perfect for any international student wishing to study their undergraduate or postgraduate degree with us.
Liverpool is a city made world-famous courtesy of its music, cultural, arts, sports and entertainment scenes. The city has plenty to offer international students, including fascinating museums, cuisine from around the world, impressive architecture – not least at the waterfront, great shopping and fantastic festivals. It is no surprise that Liverpool is visited each year by millions of tourists. It's a city that welcomes students and is not expensive for students to live in.
Liverpool is known globally because of its sporting profile; with two rival Premier League Football teams, Liverpool F.C and Everton F.C., the Grand National international horse racing meeting and International Golf Tournaments.
Beautiful, welcoming and secure are just three words that sum up campus life at Hope. We have two study campuses. Our vibrant, redeveloped Creative Campus is in the city and has fabulous facilities for students studying creative and performing arts. The Hope Park campus is in a quieter, leafy suburb of Liverpool but still only a short bus ride from the city centre. Additionally, we have a residential campus, Aigburth Park, located in a trendy area near parks and restaurants. A free shuttle bus runs between all of the campuses so that students can travel easily between them. Liverpool Hope also has its own outdoor education centre, Plas Caerdeon in beautiful North Wales.
A wide range of services and amenities allow students to enjoy campus life to the full. Two libraries, fully equipped (and free) gym, sports hall, restaurants and cafes are all available to boost students learning, relaxation and health.
At Liverpool Hope University, we offer both combined and single honours degrees giving our students increased flexibility and enabling them to study subject combinations that will help them in their careers. Liverpool Hope academics are all involved in research and teaching, ensuring that students learn about the latest findings in their subject.
Students are taught in lectures, seminars and tutorials, the latter being in groups of no more than 10 students. This small group teaching helps students to get the academic support they need to achieve their goals at the University. The University can also support students with learning and writing mentors that help students gain the academic study skills needed to succeed.
At Liverpool Hope, we strive for our students to have the best possible chance to embark on stimulating, rewarding and successful careers. We are delighted that the latest figures from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) proudly confirmed that 98.1% of Liverpool Hope University graduates were in employment or further study, six months after graduating in 2017. This achievement places Liverpool Hope University 2nd in the UK universities ranking and 1st in England.
All students at Liverpool Hope, and for three years after graduation, have access to the Careers and Employability service situated at Hope Park. This offers advice, information on placements and jobs as well as CV writing tips, interview guidance and general help in the transition from university to the world of work. Our Careers & Employability Team are on hand to support students into internships, on-campus jobs, part-time student work and graduate level work.
Liverpool Hope University is a popular destination for International students. To ensure all international students are given support we have an International Hub located on campus. The Hub offers students essential guidance and advice needed throughout their time at the University. The team offer practical help on everything from visa applications, travel arrangements, class registration, finances, and they also help you settle into life on campus and in the UK.
The International Hub also organises social and cultural events to help international students settle into their new lives. Events include trips to historical cities, castles, villages and areas of outstanding natural beauty. These are a great way to visit other places in the UK in the company of other Liverpool Hope students, and are much less scary than doing it on your own!
We also help you to celebrate your own culture by holding a number of events throughout the year, such as Diwali, American Thanksgiving, Chinese New Year and a fantastic International Culture Carnival.
