Developing world-class social scientists
in one of the world’s great cities

The School is part of Koç University located in Istanbul, Turkey now ranked #8 in the world's best small universities and #36 in the world’s best universities under 50 years old by Times Higher Education and offering all graduate programs with full or partial scholarships.
Joining the Graduate School means you are committed to becoming a leader and contributing to the theory and practice of the social sciences by conducting high-quality research that has the potential to contribute to universal knowledge as well as social policies in Turkey and other countries. The mission of the faculty is to support you in developing the competencies and skills necessary to achieve this and providing effective mentoring to guide your career development.
Our aim is to recruit the best students, work with the best faculty and give both freedom to innovate and achieve state of the art developments. Being a small university means that our faculty-student ratio enables proper time for supervision, teaching and research.
We provide financial support for professional trainings outside KU, invite world-renown distinguished scholars for seminars and workshops, and encourage exposure to international scholarly communities through exchange programs, conferences or research trips.
Our MSc and PhD students work with faculty members who are very active in research. The majority (95% to be exact) have received their PhD degrees from the top universities of Europe and US. Most of them worked as faculty members in leading American and European universities before coming to Koç University. They are responsible for multiple national and international research grants and publishing in top scientific journals.
As a PhD candidate at Koç University you are considered a colleague, not a student and not a teaching assistant. This is why we provide all the support needed to help you achive your best during your time here.
All of our graduate students are supported either by Koç University with full scholarships or through the projects led by our faculty members.
The KU Graduate Fellowship for PhD admitted international candidates includes:
Scholarships for MA with Thesis programs includes full tuition waiver and may include other benefits such as monthly stipend, housing and others according to academic merit.
