University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio is one of the leading comprehensive universities in Texas. Our mission strives to educate students who will become concerned and enlightened citizens within a global community. UIW offers 90 academic programs across undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree levels. With an enrollment of over 8,500 students and 75+ countries represented on campus, UIW is the largest Catholic university in Texas and the fourth-largest private university in the state.
UIW has agreements for reciprocal education with 140+ universities in 40 countries. It also operates academic sites in Mexico City, Mexico; Irapuato, Mexico; Heidelberg, Germany and Strasbourg, France.
UIW operates on a rolling admissions policy with start dates in Fall, Spring and Summer. Health Profession programs have separate deadlines, as well as graduate degree programs. Students are encouraged to apply 4 – 6 months prior to the semester they plan to enroll.
The 62 hectare campus is located in the heart of San Antonio in the prestigious Alamo Heights neighborhood. It is home to the headwaters of the San Antonio River and conveniently located 5 minutes from the San Antonio International Airport as well as 10 minutes from downtown. As an NCAA Division I institution, our athletic facilities are start of the art to house 23 sports teams and an Olympic size swimming pool on the second floor of the Natatorium. Campus life facilities include ten student dormitories and the newly built Student Engagement for all student services, eateries and organizations. Practical experience is gained in an academic setting via the Autonomous Vehicle Systems Lab, Juren Sullivan Center for Fashion Management, 3D Animation & Game Design lab, recording studios, simulation and skills lab, StockTrak Finance Lab and campus TV/radio studios.
