Teaching offers best support for every single student

Our teaching is informed by the core idea of training students to the highest level professionally, but also giving them individual support in their personal development. With over 80 professorships and over 2000 students in Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin and Milan, the university trains the next generation of media talents for an international media society. Classes and study groups are generally small and personal. In order to offer students a close interlinking of theory and practice, the university has appointed scholars and experts from media businesses, universities and communications agencies to fill its professorships. The nonprofessional academic staff is also under constant development and expansion. In the different programmes students receive highly individualised support as they acquire theoretical subject knowledge and develop their social and creative personalities.

The Career Service is a competent point of contact promoting dialogue between students and companies in all media and management disciplines. It also acts as service provider for companies, including helping them to recruit potential employees. The fundamental aim of the Career Service is to establish long-lasting cooperation between students and graduates, faculties and companies for the benefit of all concerned by opening lines of communication.

Focus on international careers

Macromedia University trains personalities who can operate in a global market and work in transnational and transcultural projects. The international orientation is therefore promoted on two levels: through intercultural exchange and projects in teaching and research. International projects and case studies encountered by students as they study show how global standards become established on a regional level. A TV format, for example, or a video game, work differently in Japan than in Germany.

Testimonials

Laura Li Jin Ng, Media and Communication Management (M.A.)

The well-planned and concise curriculum convinced me to apply for pre-semester and masters in media and communication management. Despite majoring in sociology, I did not have a hard time catching up because of the supportive and patient professors, who made every effort to ensure that I understood the jargon, terminologies and theories during lectures. The professors brought the best out of everyone through giving students great extent of autonomy on the topics for our project theses. By keeping the size of the class small, the school encouraged active learning through interaction and seminar-styled lectures on current affairs in the media industry.

After studying at a state university, I learned about myself that I wanted to have more structure, more focus on current topics and a deeper connection to the teachers and professors. I believe that it isn’t enough to know all the theory when you have no idea how to apply this knowledge.  Therefore, I am really thankful to Macromedia University and to all of our professors for the support and for the chance they gave us to actually work together with companies. After finishing the bachelor program, I decided to do the master program as well. I really liked how international the university is and the chance to get to know so many different people and cultures. In addition to the study, I have been working at the marketing department for Mercedes-Benz for over two years now, which handles the communication for the German market. That’s another reason why I am happy that I decided to go to Macromedia University.
