The career services team helped me to take the first step in the process of establishing my career. The staff helped me make a good resume and guided me through the whole process of potentially finding my dream job.
The General Arts and Science program has given me the reassurance and clarity of the career path I have always wanted to take. It’s a program that caters to all; those who are uncertain and those who are certain of their future career paths. I would highly recommend it because it not only opens up many opportunities but gives you the foundation to the start of a great career.
I have a lot of friendly classmates and professors here. It’s so amazing that I can have access to various services that meet my different needs such as improving English skills, having peer tutoring and guiding career development etc. I also love that after class there is an abundance of activities I can join and participate in.
I find my life very enjoyable at DC!
The International Office has been of a great support since my arrival in Canada. Being an international student, I had to take English as a second language, which gave me a great opportunity to meet the International Office team. They have always been there for me to answer any kind of question that I could possibly ask. They helped me through my process in choosing my courses, changing my program, not only that but also places to visit since I was freshly coming from home and I did not know anyone by then. Last but not least they always encourage me no matter the situation.
I received the international entrance scholarship from Durham College as an appreciation for scoring a 7.5 overall in the IELTS test. The textbooks required for my course were too pricey, but the scholarship helped me purchase all my supplies and also funded me in exploring the beauty of Canada.
I really enjoy my program because I receive a deep learning of vehicle structure. This is especially the case during my shop class, the best way to get a better understanding is with hands-on practice.
Moreover, I have a great professor who is very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor, which always keeps his students amused with his stories and interested in the learning material.
Enrolling myself in Paralegal course in this college, I believe is the most righteous decision so far. Having the support and fine guidance of the teachers in this journey, be it with assignments, tests or mock trails undoubtedly, the faculty is working very hard to persuade the students to do better. I aim to work in Small Claims Court and take up cases related to Resident and Landlord Tenancy as well as Traffic ticketing cases.
The ESL program has been a good experience for me to become comfortable in Canada because I did not speak the local language and needed help learning how to communicate in English. They taught me to improve my speaking, reading, grammar and writing. I also have an advisor who has helped me in my schooling and different on-campus/off-campus activities to adjust myself easily into Canadian culture and the school system.
