International Student Support

We work hard to ensure that international students and scholars experience an easy transition while at CMU. English Language Institute and Language Skills Support
Students wanting to study English may apply for admission into CMU’s English Language Institute (ELI). Students who are accepted for admission to a graduate program but do not meet minimum English proficiency may be admitted into CMU’s Bridge Program or granted Conditional Admission. Bridge students study English before taking academic courses. Conditionally admitted students are first tested and then take English courses before or during at least their first semester at CMU.
University Recreation and Events
CMU hosts more than 500 University Events every year, from intimate presentations and performances to large-scale concerts. Also, University Recreation (URec) and Student Activity Center facilities are free to students and include areas for jogging, personal training, weight lifting, swimming/aquatics, and a large variety of sports and leisure activities.
