Louisiana
Louisiana has eight private universities and three State universities. Louisiana's higher education is very well known throughout American and indeed, the world. Louisiana's universities and colleges have achieved very highly in the fields of crude oil refineries, natural gas and petrochemical production studies. The universities both private and state offer excellent education facilities.
Things to do in Louisiana
Louisiana is well known for its Parties, Cajun food, Cajun-blues music and the culture. In Louisiana, you will never be bored! Louisiana has the famous Bourbon Street located in the heart of the old French quarter. This street is best known for its wild parties and good-looking people that flock there every year. The most notable of parties is the Mardi Gras, held during the month of February. During the day you will find street performers, local bands playing typical blue grass music, jugglers, a mobile circus, marching bands and much more.
Louisiana is the number one state visited in the country.
Dancing is a very popular activity in New Orleans so if you want to get your dancing shoes on then head over to Tipitana's. The bustling city of Layfette also offers a dancing outlet at the Grant Dance Hall. Lafayette is a very popular city and is a major shopping town. There are streets upon streets of shops that offer everything from that familiar chain store to unique boutiques and stalls.
Louisiana is commonly divided into different sections; plantation country, sportsman country, crossroads, Cajun country. Each have there own vibe and personality, from tours of the swamps to the magnificent plantations.
Living in Louisiana
As with most States, housing prices are more expensive within the cities and cheaper the further out you travel.
The climate in Louisiana is the same all over the state. Since Louisiana is located on the Gulf of Mexico, it experiences a humid subtropical climate. At night the temperatures drop to a very agreeable level.
The devastation left by hurricane Katrina has meant that the people of Louisiana have worked incredibly hard to re-build and repair their State. Many have already returned more exciting building projects are to come. Despite the hurricane, Louisiana managed to hold the number one spot for tourism.
