Arkansas has an abundance of schools that offer two-year, four-year and graduate programs. There are 11 four-year public universities and colleges in Arkansas and 22 two-year colleges. If state universities and colleges of Arkansas are not for you then you have 12 private universities to choose from. Arkansas is renowned for its research in the field of toxicology. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is located in Arkansas and has strong links with the universities and colleges presenting unrivalled opportunities for graduate students in this field.

Things to do in Arkansas

Arkansas has an abundance of things to do for graduate students. Arkansas attracts huge numbers of tourists every year. In fact, this is Arkansas' most thriving industry. Arkansas has a fantastic variety of activities to choose from. You can visit the numerous spas and hot springs, or you can indulge yourself in Arkansas's huge shopping district where you can pick up anything from clothes to household items. Arkansas outdoor activities are something that every one should explore from golfing to kayaking down the Mississippi river, Arkansas has it all. Hunting is a very popular activity to do on the Ozark Plateau or you can visit the Arkansas impressive mountains and test your strength on a rock climb.

The state of Arkansas has a number of large cities where the Arkansas culture and friendliness is very prevalent. Arkansas' array of dining choices is phenomenal in these large cities. Important cities to visit in Arkansas include West Memphis, Little Rock, and North Little Rock.

Living in Arkansas

Arkansas is a State flowing with different cultures and diversity. Arkansas is an ideal study destination and it's demographic is largely comprised of young people with a median age of 31 years.

The living costs in Arkansas are very reasonable. There are plenty of jobs where international student can find employment. Most of the universities and colleges work together with the work force. Arkansas has a huge metropolitan area around Little Rock of about 400,000 people.

Arkansas experiences very pleasant weather with at least 120 days of sun a year. With high temperatures in the summer and slightly dryer winters, Arkansas offers a very agreeable climate.

Some popular areas with graduate students in Little Rock include:

  • Hillcrest- The oldest area of the city, Hillcrest dates back to the 1890s. You’ll find small little cottages and turn of the century homes.

  • Heights- This where you will find leafy lawns and peaceful streets.

  • Cammack valley- The village is a city in itself with absolutely beautiful real estate and a tight community.

  • Riverdale- This area is filled with apartments, condos, and luxurious modern housing. This district is on the river so you have beautiful views of the river.

  • Quapaw Quarter- This is the historic homes quarter.

  • University Park- This area offers good housing near the malls and is very well kept.

  • River Market District- Housing is limited but loft apartments are available for a cheap price. Most of what you will find in the river market is some hot bars, restaurants and some unique shops.
