Graduate Study in Queensland

Queensland has an established and growing University sector, with a strong international focus. Programs are offered in a full range of general and professional areas, and business and management education accounts for nearly one quarter of the total student body. Around 5,000 international students are currently studying these programs in Queensland.

For international students, Queensland is a good choice for quality education. The State's nine universities are established under State legislation and overseen by both State and Federal Governments, sharing standards common to universities in Britain. All are engaged in both teaching and research, and many offer consultancy services. All universities have a range of international programs, catering for some 7,000 international students from 57 countries living and studying in Queensland. Several also offer programs off-shore in the region, drawing on their considerable expertise in distance delivery. The university international offices can assist students in their enrolment, and help them find services such as accommodation, counselling and health support which they will need during their stay.

James Cook University

James Cook University has its major campus in Townsville in the State's tropical north, and has built an international reputation for research in areas relevant to the tropics, such as marine biology and rainforest ecology and management. JCU offers undergraduate and masters programs in business administration, commerce, economics and tourism management, and is one of six institutions worldwide to be designated a member of the World Tourism Organisation's Global Network of Education and Training Centres.

Central Queensland University

Central Queensland University is based in Rockhampton, approximately 650 kilometres north of Brisbane. CQU offers undergraduate and masters programs in accounting, business, business management, information systems and marketing management. This university is a major provider of off-campus study using multimedia delivery, with all management Programs available by this mode of study. CQU has programs in several off-shore locations, including Fiji, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai.

University of the Sunshine Coast

University of the Sunshine Coast is Queensland's newest, located on the Sunshine Coast itself. It offers undergraduate and masters programs in business, with an MBA available on the internet. Students using this form of study are able to access fellow students and teachers through on-line classrooms and tutorial groups.

The Queensland University of Technology

The Queensland University of Technology is a comprehensive innercity institution, with strong links to the local business community and a focus on applied research. Through the Graduate Management School, QUT offers masters programs in general business management, international business, and the recently introduced masters degree in new venture management, which focuses on the planning and launch of entrepreneurial new ventures and the management of innovation.

Griffith University

Griffith University has campuses in both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It offers a wide range of masters programs in business management, accounting, finance and banking, marketing, information technology, technology management, human resource management, Internet marketing and commerce and public sector management.

The University of Queensland

The University of Queensland is Queensland's oldest university. It is a member of Universitas 21, an international group of leading research institutions from several countries, and has business programs under-pinned by one of the largest postgraduate research programs of management in Australia, as well as by the active involvement of teaching staff in business consultancy activities. Undergraduate and masters programs in more than twenty specialist areas are offered.

The University of Southern Queensland

The University of Southern Queensland is located at Toowoomba, approximately 130 kilometres west of Brisbane. USQ has extensive experience as an off-shore provider, with more than 3,000 of its students in overseas programs. It offers undergraduate and masters programs in business, accounting and information technology, on campus and by distance education mode, with particular research and teaching strengths in the field of non-bank financial institutions.

Bond University

Bond University (2,000 students) is Australia's first private University, and is located on the Gold Coast. The Bond MBA is a comprehensive three-semester program, attracting students from all over the world and providing a rich environment for discussion and the development of extensive networks and contacts. Excellent facilities and small class sizes provide quality support to students.

Australian Catholic University

Australian Catholic University is widely recognised for its graduate programs in Education, Health, Leadership, Management, Nursing and Theology. Most of ACU's undergraduate programs require students to undertake internships with outside organisations during their candidature. The University is an independent institution funded by the Australian Government and welcomes students of all beliefs.
