When you contemplate undertaking postgraduate study, various factors can influence your decision; the subject area; the location of the course provider; the cost; the time commitment and the reputation of the institution. However, in today’s time poor environment, where people can’t or don’t have time to travel to campus, study mode is also beginning to influence this decision. Achieving the perfect balance between education, family, and career can be extremely difficult when class times are dictated by an educational institution. Online study (or study by e-learning) can allow you to balance your study commitments with other important areas of your life, it can be more cost effective than traditional learning because you don’t need time away from work and it suits a busy lifestyle because you can study whenever and wherever you are located in the world.

- Students are not limited by geography: They can study at institutes with international reputations for research and learning.

Course: MSc International Business by eLearning
Why did you decide to study International Business by e-Learning?
As a business woman and an entrepreneur who is expanding her business through e-commerce, I really wanted to understand the inner workings and nuances of the global economy and I thought that an MSc in International Business from the University of Ulster would be the perfect opportunity to learn what I needed to know.
Did the course live up to your expectations?
It’s been a while since I attended University so I was a little nervous as what to expect. What I experienced was knowledgeable, attentive and available professors; great teaching assistants, a very organised and well laid out set of course materials, discussions, readings and assignments – all online. My travels and business would sometimes get in the way, but there was always the opportunity to catch up and interact with the professors and the other students. The courses were also flexible enough that I could follow my readings online while on the road for business.
Any advice for someone considering online postgraduate study?
My advice would be to take a chance and experience the University of Ulster online. It has already opened my eyes to an understanding about that world that I had never known. What I have gained from the readings and the assignments was much more than just fascinating course material – I relearned the passion of learning….all over again.
