Slovak University of Technology in BratislavaThe Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava ( “STU”) is a modern educational-pedagogical and scientific-research institution and the biggest technical university in Slovakia. Since its establishment in 1937 more than 112,000 graduates have completed their education at STU and annually an average of 19 000 students are study at the university. STU currently consists of 7 Faculties and 2 institutes, offering accredited study programmes for Bachelors, Engineering (Master) and Doctoral study. The credit system is compatible with European Credit Transfer System (according to the “Bologna Declaration”), enabling bi-directional mobility of students with EU countries universities, as well as in the framework of broader European and wide-world area. STU offers some courses in foreign languages, primarily in following areas: civil engineering and machinery engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry and food technology, architecture. International cooperation with scientific-research institutions around the world is a high priority for STU including joint projects within the EU framework. Mobility of staff with other international institutions is encouraged for students, staff and researchers. In the past few years STU has increasingly followed a policy of attracting more foreign students to the university. The number of foreign students at individual STU Faculties has increased 25 times over the past six years and there are currently over 500 students represented at all STU faculties. Foreign students enjoy modern facilities and equipment and staff are also on hand to advise them how best to use their free time. Despite the massive recent increase in international student recruitment, there are still a number of spaces available for well-qualified students, especially for those who are self-financed and who come from countries outside the European Union.
