Information Technology is a multi-disciplinary subject covering a diverse range of topics relevant to computers and computer software that are vital to today's society, a fact reflected in the large number of career opportunities available to IT graduates. The IT sector is currently growing, and global shortages of people with IT skills are concerning managers in a variety of industries. The School of Computer Science has an outstanding reputation as world leader in this field, and it offers a number of one-year full-time MSc courses suitable for people with different types of backgrounds and career aspirations. These courses may also be taken by part-time students over periods extending up to four years. When taken full-time, these courses all run for a full twelve months (starting in September) and consist of nine months of formal teaching followed by three months of supervised personal research.
