The Law School at The University of Manchester is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the UK and has a major international reputation. At the very forefront of legal and public policy formation and development, many of its graduates and staff have played central roles in public life. The Manchester Law School has considerable strengths in all the major areas of teaching and research and the interdisciplinary strengths of the School have been enhanced by the presence within it of the Centre for Social and Ethical Philosophy (CSEP), which conducts cutting edge medical ethical research, and the recent addition of the Centre for Criminology and Socio-Legal Studies.
Law at Manchester has a reputation for consistent excellence in research, having been awarded a 5A in both the 1996 and 2001 Research Assessment Exercises.
