Founded in 1974, the Department of Computer Science was among the first university computing departments to be established in Great Britain.
The school’s mission is teaching and research excellence, founded upon the strengths of research groups in the departments of Computer Science and Information Science.
The results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), published in December, have confirmed Loughborough as one of the country’s leading research universities, and 90% of the Department’s research is of an international standard. Our teaching standards have also seen the Department consistently ranked within the top five of all such British university departments in terms of the government Qualification Assurance Agency, as well as student satisfaction.

Entry Requirements
Students should have obtained a minimum of a good second
class frst degree or above, and have a good command of written
and spoken English. Professional and work experience based
qualifcations maybe considered for mature applicants, if deemed
to satisfy the requirements of the individual course.
