The University of Florida Forensic Science Online Programs are designed to meet the needs of today’s working professionals, providing a quality curriculum for online master’s education. Through distance education, students interact with instructors and each other, using course e-mail, discussion boards, and live chat sessions. All forensic science courses are conducted fully online; however, postgraduate students must attend the UF campus or other location (by arrangement) in their final semester to take the written qualifying exam for the masters degree.
Postgraduate & Certificate Programs:
The Forensic Toxicology concentration is provided by the UF College of Veterinary Medicine. It focuses on general and advanced principles of toxicology, forensic toxicology and drug metabolism providing a strong foundation in analytical techniques, pharmacokinetics, drug elimination and toxicology. Modules in forensic pharmacology, doping control, postmortem toxicology, expert testimony and QA/QC procedures are also featured.
The Forensic Drug Chemistry concentration, provided by the UF College of Pharmacy, is structured to give the student a strong foundation in analytical techniques, drug pharmacology, forensic drug chemistry and organic synthesis. The program is novel in featuring modules in forensic pharmacology, drug synthesis, expert testimony and QA/QC procedures.
The Forensic DNA & Serology concentration is provided by the UF College of Pharmacy. It is structured to give the student a strong foundation in serology, nucleic acid chemistry, and the theory of DNA analysis. The certificate program is novel in featuring modules in biological evidence. The master’s program has been designed to meet the guidelines set by the DNA Advisory Board for theoretical background requirements for DNA Technical Leader and supervisor.
The Forensic Science concentration is provided by the College of Pharmacy. It consists of 18 credits of required courses. Students will choose an additional 14 credits of electives from a wide range of forensic disciplines. Courses in forensic medicine, anthropology, drug analysis, toxicology, and DNA are available.
Forensic Death Investigation (Certificate Only) The Certificate in Death Investigation is provided by the College of Pharmacy by offering courses in collaboration with UF’s College of Liberal Arts & Sciences department of anthropology and The University of Edinburgh College of Medicine. It focuses on the investigation of crime and death using forensic pathology, anthropology and DNA analysis. Modules in sexual offences, drug death, forensic odontology, and wounds are also featured.

> Online education means students have 24/7 access to course modules over the duration of the semester, enabling them to set their own work schedule.
